FoCM Board of Directors

Friends of Camp Mather Board of Directors, 2025

  • Michael Ashkar, Board Member (joined 2025)
  • Allyson Bishop, Board Member (joined 2025) — Allyson was introduced to Camp Mather by a longtime San Francisco resident. Straight away Allyson appreciated the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Camp Mather. On her return trips with family and friends she delights in the family focus and fun activities led by the wonderful staff. She loves sharing her discovery of this gem of a camp and hopes everyone has the opportunity to experience it.
  • Maria Balestrieri, Corresponding Secretary (joined 2009) — Maria’s family has been going to Camp Mather for over 20 years. Both her daughter and son have worked at Camp Mather as camp assistants. Her favorite activities at Camp Mather are the staff talent show, the volleyball tournament, and lunch at the lake.
  • Anita Cabrera, Board Member (joined 2025)
  • Dan Casey, Board Member (joined 2025)
  • Matt Darling, Board Member (joined 2025) — The Darling family has cherished the opportunity to attend Camp Mather almost every year since 2016. It has become a special escape where we can step away from everyday life and build meaningful connections with other families and friends. Each visit brings its own unique experiences, and contributing to the camp’s success through FoCM board membership will help ensure its continued growth and the joy it brings to so many.
  • Bob Frantz, Board Member (joined 2008) — Bob’s family has been going to Camp since 1979. Bob himself worked in the camp dining hall during the summer of 1966. His oldest son worked at camp for two summers in the early 1990s. Since 2005, Bob has been part of the pre-camp volunteer set-up crew, readying camp for the summer guests. Bob enjoys hiking, exploring, and especially the solitude of the High Sierras.
  • Hana Jue, Recording Secretary (joined 2023) — Hana and her family first visit to Camp Mather was a special and magical experience for the whole family, especially coming out of the pandemic. Then, well after summer had ended, the kids were still talking about camp so much that Hana decided to be a Volunteer Leader and in the process of getting to learn more about FoCM, also joined the Board.
  • Midge Lingvai, Acting Treasurer (joined 2002) — Midge has attended Camp Mather for the last 43 years and has decades of knowledge, information, and history about Camp Mather. She is one of the original founding board members, along with her late husband Tony Patch. Midge has served as Secretary and Treasurer.
  • Brent Sleeper, President (joined 2021) — Brent and his family have visited Camp Mather for several years. He was drawn to Camp as a way to share the love of the wilderness and outdoors he experienced growing up camping in Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin. Today, his own children are now teenagers but are excited to be returning to Camp this summer.
  • John Steddin, Vice President (joined 2024)
